Joelle Charan toert regelmatig door het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Nederland. Sinds kort is haar nieuwe single Stained Glass uit, geremixed en gemasterd door John Reynolds (U2, Brian Eno). Haar muziek wordt gesteund
door meer dan vijftig Britse radiozenders, via Britse en wereldwijde persinterviews en -artikels, en meer dan 900 afspeellijsten op Spotify. Joelle streeft ernaar om bij te dragen aan het veranderen van vooroordelen door oost en west samen te laten smelten in haar muzikale stijl. Naar het voorbeeld van haar ouders, die oosterse en westerse idealen vermengden in hun huis, hoopt zij dat haar muziek kan helpen om wonden uit het verleden te helen. Joelle schrijft songs met een sterke verhaallijn. Samen met haar eclectisch duo neemt zij haar luisteraar mee in een aangename blend van dromerige popsongs waar haar Indiase roots doorheen klinken. Hierdoor is haar sound zowel meeslepend als vol verrassingen. Het leven in New York en de verhalen van haar Hindoestaanse grootmoeder zijn de inspiratie voor haar muziek. José Santibáñez Born in Santiago (Chile), José is a passionate musician that dives into the sounds of latin music, jazz and urban genres (such as hip-hop, electronic, funk, rock, among others).
Whilst living in chile he studied technique and jazz improvisation with the bass virtuoso Christian Gálvez and performed as a permanent member of the metropolitan salsa orchestra directed by the pianist and composer antoine alvear. After spending a year in the United Kingdom, he moved to Bilbao (Spain) and took lessons with the American Jazz educator and pianist Joshua Edelman, later he went on tour for several months with a live music show. Finally, in 2017 he moved to Amsterdam (Netherlands) to study the master in jazz music at the conservatorium van Amsterdam, place in which he would perfectionate his craft and compositional skills towards modern jazz music, process that culminated with the release of his first ep "Trueque". Either as a side man or as a leader with his own band, he performs in a wide range of styles and bands (jazz, pop, latin and urban music). |
Floris van Elderen |
Floris van Elderen is a drummer based in Amsterdam. He plays diverse musical genres, focusing mainly on Cuban and Brazilian Latin, Jazz and Pop. He started playing drums at the age of 16. In 2018 he graduated at the jazz department from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, with Martijn Vink, Lucas van Merwijk, Marcel Serierse and Gerhard Jeltes as his main subject teachers. As side subjects he studied snare drum with Haye Jellema and percussion with Bart Fermie.
After graduation Floris developed a broad musical interest in Latin-American and African traditional music. In 2019 he spent the summer in Cuba studying rhumba, son, salsa and timba from great masters such as José Luis “Changuito” Quintana, Rodney Barreto and Ruy-Lopez Nussa. Also he visited multiple Santeria-ceremonies in order to examine the musical heritage of the Batá. During 2022 Floris will spend the summer studying in Brazil to discover roots of Brazilian music, exposing himself to genres as Samba, Forró, Ijexa, Maracatu and many more. Floris performed in many well-known venues and festivals, such as the Bimhuis, the Concertgebouw, the Doelen, North sea Jazz Festival, Holland Festival and the Grachtenfestival. Floris did multiple tours inside and outside of Europe. |
