Ulilan Szymanska Pereira |
Ulilan Szymańska Pereira is a 20 year old violin player, born in Lisbon, Portugal and raised by a Polish and Bissau-Guinean family. Being a part of a musical family, Ulilan entered the musical world from a very early age, starting by attending her mother’s musical sessions for babies at age 3. Ulilan quickly acquired the love for music that her family shared and, following her mother’s steps, started learning the piano. Three years later, the young (now) violinist decided that the violin was the instrument that was meant for her to play, after a series of “know all instruments” sessions for children, in her music school.
After two years of learning the violin with Mr. Jean Aroutiounian, Ulilan was admitted to the National Conservatory School of Music (Escola Artistica de Musica do Conservatorio Nacional) for the class of Professor Luis Pacheco Cunha in which she remained until the end of high-school (2013-2021). In the three years of high-school, Ulilan chose to follow the professional course for string players which was a program mainly focused on the student’s life as a professional musician and on musical education in general. In 2020, Ulilan auditioned and was admitted to the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she’s currently a student of the third year of Bachelor in Music in the class of Professor Eliot Lawson and has punctual lessons with Professor Ilya Grubert throughout the school year. Throughout her musical journey, Ulilan has performed as a soloist in Portugal and The Netherlands several times and has taken part in orchestra tours throughout The Netherlands, Italy, Slovenia and Lebanon. |
